Three classes are offered for the first month. Class dates are, 9, 16 and 30 September. The regularly scheduled classes after September will be on the first Friday of each month. There will be exceptions to that schedule so please check the course schedule before making plans.
These classes are a prerequisite for those who want to participate in either of the two NRA Personal Protection courses as presented by SMFTS instructors. We have combined the content required by the NRA to be taught for students attending the Personal Protection in the Home and Personal Protection Outside the Home.
Please check out the link to these new offerings on the Course page of this website for more detailed information about the courses.
Whether or not you are thinking about taking the personal protection courses, if you have included armed self defense as part of your personal protection strategy I urge you to look into this class. You are responsible for knowing the law. We believe that this class will help.
NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION COURSES We are offering our first NRA Personal Protection in the Home on September 17 and our first NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home course on October 22/23.
Thereafter these courses will be offered on the second and third weekends of each month. Please check the course schedule. CHECK OUT OUR RATINGS!
As of June 23, 2011 there are seventeen reviews. Please feel free to click here to see what is posted
there. I also have an account on Angie's List but there is really no
category there for a company like mine. Might be a while before anyone
posts a review there.
THIRD STUDENT APPRECIATION NIGHT AT THE RANGE
The September event will be on a Monday night so the ladies can shoot for $5 rather than $10 from 6:00pm to close. From 5:00pm to 9:00pm SMFTS students will be afforded one-on-one
coaching (without charge for my time) in an effort to encourage them to
continue their learning experience with pistol shooting. I will be messaging all students who have taken instruction form SMFTS and I will also post it on the schedule.
This event has proven very popular for those who have participated. I hope to see more of you this time around. We will do it again in December. VIDEO ADDED TO ALL COURSE MATERIAL
This is an ongoing project. As time permits I will be incorporating SMFTS videos in place of NRA video segments. The group I am working on now are the gun handling (load, fire, decock and unload) and range command videos.
CHANGES TO EXISTING SMFTS COURSES AND NEW OFFERINGS
SMFTS courses have been changed. There are now two courses.
SMFTS Basic Pistol Course consists of two lessons. This is a non-NRA version of basic pistol course (less
material not directly related to shooting) and will work for
semi-automatic pistols or revolvers. This is a four hour course. For more information click here.
SMFTS Intermediate Pistol Course is done in one lesson. It deals with re-loading, stoppages and getting the gun
working again quickly should there be an interruption in the cycle of
operation. This is in intermediate level course that incorporates a lot of repetitive gun handling drills
both in dry fire and live fire. Students must have completed one of
the NRA basic pistol courses or have had other formal instruction with
handguns. For more information click here.
